To search the DHC's site, use keywords or phrases. PLEASE NOTE: This search function will not retrieve finding aids. To search for or within one of the finding aids, go to "Access" and click on "Finding Aids." The Boolean AND, OR, and NOT are supported. AND narrows a search by combining terms, retrieving all documents that contain both of the words specified; OR expands a search to include documents containing either keyword; and NOT limits a search by excluding unwanted terms. Be sure that your search terms are spelled correctly. If your machine supports "Sound-Alike Matching" and it is turned on, the search engine will look for words that sound similar to the search terms. Capitalize proper nouns; lower-case words will match any case. For example, typing preservation will return all documents containing the words preservation, Preservation, and PRESERVATION. On the other hand, if you type Preservation, the search engine will look only for the capitalized word. Use quotation marks to find words or phrases that must appear adjacent to each other. For example, typing "documentation and preservation" will result in all documents that contain that exact string of words; otherwise, the search will include all documents in which the words may appear anywhere, and in any order. |
