Choreographing Your Search

What are the buttons and lists used for searching the Dance Heritage Coalition Finding Aids?

The gray Help button, located above the Search Collection button as seen in the example above, describes the content of the other gray buttons, and gives hints on search phrases, on the combining search terms with Boolean operators "and", "or," "not," parenthesis, wild cards and truncation chararacters.   Proximity searching, using "after," "before," "of," "within word," or "within x words" and stopwords (such as "the," "a," "an," etc.) are also discussed.

The other buttons above the search box lead the user to the Dance Heritage Coalition affiliated institutions that have contributed finding aids (Repository List), broad subject areas (Subject List), Collections List (the opening right frame), advanced searching (Search Fields) and Help.
